Rabbit in a Flower

Roullet & Decamps “Rabbit in a Flower” musical automaton. Made in Paris by this famous maker in circa 1890. The shy rabbit rises slowly out of the Flower,  chewing a leaf and twitching its ears, then darts back down into the Flower.

This amusing and romantic automaton featuring a Blue Flower was retailed by the famous Parisian apartment store Au Nain Bleu.
In the same family for many years the Rabbits original blue flower petals shows signs of regular use. The leaves are faded in places and the edges show signs of wear, the rabbit itself and the mechanical functioning are in excellent condition. The clockwork mechanism has a stop/start button and key.
