Magician Monkey with Dice
Automaton of a Wizard Monkey producing dice under a glass dome with brass cover.
This musical automaton is in original unrestored condition with its original dome and provenance back to 1976 when in the collection of celebrated automaton dealer and collector Jack Donovan. It features in the film ‘Princely Toys’ (25″ in).
The papier mache and leather figure of a monkey in silk robes and pointed hat, striking his wand whilst lifting a brass cover to reveal a glass dome of three die, with moving head, mouth and eyes, all under an arch of climbing foliage and a glass dome.
