Giselle Dancing Doll
Clockwork Musical Dancing Doll made in Paris c.1900. Marenghi et Cie. 12 inches high on her base.
The inlaid wooden box base contains the substantial clockwork motor which drives the music and the doll. Giselle will dance for a long time, up to 20 minutes with a hypnotic twirling up and down motion. The music ‘Le Chant du Depart’ is played as she dances.
The doll is made with fine painted white wooden arms and legs a pink and gold trimmed dress, bisque porcelain head and real hair.
