Duck
Clockwork nodding Duck. German. Made in circa 1890. A life size duck that nods its head and opens and shuts its wooden beak for hours. The papier mache body is covered in the original painted flock material. The legs and feet are a heavy soft metal and the duck has glass eyes. This automaton is very rarely available. The action is mesmerising and amusing, this example is working perfectly with a completely overhauled clockwork mechanism to ensure years of reliable operation. Size 28 x 28 x 14 cm.
