Whistling Figure

Clockwork Whistling man leaning on a Lamp-post. This jolly man comes to life whistling a jaunty melody whilst turning his head from side to side. Made in Germany c.1950, the figure is expertly hand carved from solid wood and stained and painted in muted colours.  The clockwork mechanism is very similar to that used in Singing Bird boxes to recreate bird song featuring a triple chambered bellows supplying the air to a piston whistle. The cams that operate the whistle in this figure have been specially made to whistle a pleasant tune.

When operated by pushing the button on the back the Lampost lights automatically for the duration of the song.
